Defending champions Silver Stars showed why they are the champs with a runaway score of 291 points. Silver Stars is the 2010 Panorama winner. Both La Horquetta Pan Groove [Single Pan] and Arima Golden Symphony [Small band] retained their respective pan titles at last evening’s bmobile National Panorama Single Pans and Small Conventional Bands Finals held at the Lord Kitchener Stands, South Quay. For La Horquetta Pan Groove, it was their fifth consecutive win. Hailing from Arima, the Single Pan band scored 275 points and with it the first prize of $200,000. for their performance of the Duvonne Stewart’s arrangement of “Fire Coming Down”. In second spot was NLCB San Juan East Side Symphony with 270 points while third place went to United Sounds with 268 points.
In the Small Band category, it was indeed smooth sailing for Arima Golden Symphony. Playing a Terrence BJ Marcelle arrangement of De Fosto’s "Smooth Sailing", the band amassed 270 points and a cash prize of $400,000. Second place went to Golden Hands with 268.5 while Merrytones placed third with 268 points.

Pan Trinbago Inc. has released the official calendar of Panorama events for Carnival 2010. Several changes have been made amongst which are the return of the Medium Conventional Bands and Large Conventional Bands to the National Panorama Finals on Carnival Saturday night and Champs in Concert on the Saturday after Carnival. Both events are carded for the Queen’s Park Savannah. |
